Popular Music Listening Devices

With music available online within seconds, in every genre, knowing which device works best for individual needs gives consumers an advantage at an electronics store. Deciding on a device and watching for sales can save hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars.

iPods

Although the brand name is synonymous with mp3 players in general, an iPod refers only to devices made by Apple. Specifically, an iPod is a device that holds gigabytes of data and plays music and video. Apple also features the iPod Shuffle, which has no screen and is only a little bigger than the size of a postage stamp. The iPad, the newest tablet PC, the iPhone and the iPod Touch are all also examples of currently available iPod products.

Mp3 player

The term mp3 player covers any device that can play an mp3, the most common audio file for music. These come in many sizes and types. SanDisk makes many popular versions, including the Sansa Clip, which is half the size of a credit card and holds up to 4 gigabytes worth of music.

CD players

Although CD players are harder to find than mp3 players today, CDs are still easy to buy. These newer versions also feature excellent skip protection and battery efficiency. Also, data CDs can hold over a hundred songs and newer CDs can play them. Some of the newest models even play DVDs.

No matter the budget, whether looking to spend $20 or $200, the options for listening to downloaded music can suit any style. Knowing the ins and out of computer is no longer a prerequisite.
